The exhibitions close on October 23 but, I am sure, some unsold stock will still be available after that date.
In Burford, Oxfordshire, under the title Some Gentlemen Prefer Blonde we see how pale coloured woods can lighten a room at Jonathan Fryson Antiques while Swan Gallery Antiques lean on Wind in the Willows with their title Wind in the Oaks for a show of country furniture.
Period oak is also the subject of Early Yet Tasteful held by William H. Stokes in Cirencester and Oak in the Landscape at Key Antiques in Chipping Norton.
More period oak at Oak Lore at Day Antiques, Tetbury, while at Witney, two top dealers have important shows. Witney Antiques offers historic embroideries in On this Fair Sampler does my Needle Write and W.R. Harvey examine walnut furniture under the title A Hard Nut to Crack.
At the Cotswolds antiques capital Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire Christopher Clarke Antiques revisit their speciality campaign furniture with Essential Baggage, while Baggott Church Street look at furnishings for town and country houses with Beyond the Hinge and Six of One and Half a Dozen of the Other at Keith Hockin Antiques displays an array of early pewter, carvings and, of course, early oak.
