Caroline launches a new event in Bury St. Edmunds over the weekend of September 3 to 5. But, just a week later, she is back on more familiar territory with her well-established twice-yearly Petersfield Antiques Fair, the autumn version of which will be held from September 10 to 12.
Expect 43 exhibitors in the Festival Hall of the Hampshire town, many of them familiar names from the quality fair circuit. These include Hickmet Fine Art from London with Nouveau and Deco bronzes; Garret & Hazlehurst from Kent with 19th century French bronzes; Catherine Hunt from Gloucestershire with Oriental ceramics and textiles; Wilsons of Worthing with period furniture and Cynthia Walmsley from Leicestershire with miniatures.
Hampshire marine watercolours specialist John Morton Lee is at the fair while fellow Hampshire dealers Millers of Ringwood make their debut with period furniture and accessories and Farnham rug dealer Karel Weijand also shows for the first time.
The fair is datelined with most stock pre-1920 and as at all Penman events everything is vetted for quality and authenticity.
Admission is £3.
ELSEWHERE Essex organiser Robert Bailey has certainly revived his flagging Northern Antiques Fair which after some years at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, moves for its 54th annual staging from September 22 to 26 to Harewood House, near Leeds in North Yorkshire.
The showground location did not really do justice to what was once one of the most prestigious, and most venerable, of out-of-London fairs but the new location in an 18th century, Adam designed stately home, has brought serious interest from dealers who would not have stood at the Pavilions of Harrogate.
Some 40 exhibitors have already signed up and these include Butchoff Antiques, Christine Bridge, Freshfords, J. Collins, Simon Wingett, Wakelin & Linfield and Windsor House Antiques.
