The event, which has taken over from the Westminster Ceramics Fair which Mr Lyne organised with Mr Law from June 2001, is a small, niche fair of nine dealers with a pottery and porcelain dateline of 1875 and glass allowed up to 1900. It was successful enough for eight of the exhibitors to firmly re-book although Mr Lyne would like to sign up three or four more specialists.
He also tells me the next Kensington ceramics fair will be held at the Kensington Close on June 7 and 8 to coincide with the Eight Days in June exhibitions held in Kensington by Garry Atkins, Roderick Jellicoe, Mercury Antiques and Simon Spero.
Looking for more niche specialists
LAST September, businessman and glass enthusiast Nicholas Lyne sold his stake in Berkshire auctioneers Law Fine Art to his partner and co-founder Mark Law and teamed up with Sussex ceramics dealer Brad Dover of Jupiter Antiques to launch the Kensington Ceramics & Glass Fair, the first of which was held at the Kensington Close Hotel on February 26 and 27.
