Some 25 instruments will be on offer from around £3000 to in the region of £35,000 for the highlight of the show, a rare example of the 18th century maker Benjamin Martin's Aerometrum Magnum or "triple weather glass", c.1760, a detail of which we show right.
One of the claims to fame of Martin, who was, in his day, known as the "Retailer of the Sciences", is that in 1764 he supplied the scientific instruments for the newly-formed research laboratories of Harvard College in Massachusetts.
Hoping for fair Kent trade winds
