Limited edition Ulverston firsts of Alfred Fell’s The Early Iron Industry of Furness & District (1908) and A Furness Manor, Pennington and its Church (1929) – the earlier volume inscribed by Fell – sold at £160 and £150 respectively.

Rebound in half calf, a 1753 copy of Maitland’s History of Edinburgh, rebound in half calf, made £500; James Barrie’s Historical Sketch of the Hawick Golf Club of 1898, the red cloth binding faded and marked, was sold for £190, and a copy in worn and torn original boards of Joseph Crawhall’s Olde Ffrendes wyth Newe Faces of 1883, illustrated with coloured woodcuts, made £320.
