Two, the BR standard goods locomotive, top left, and the Freelance Prince Charles, below right, are relatively common, and even in this sort of near mint and boxed condition sold at £350 and £340 respectively.

However, pictured top right, is a much rarer beast, the so-called Rebuilt Royal Scot 4-6-0 with its six-wheel tender in dark green with black and orange pinstripes. Showing only minor signs of use and including the original instruction sheet, this example of the Northampton-based toy makers' most notable post-War model sold at £2700. The remaining loco and tender, a mid-1950s Flying Scotsman finished in litho-printed dark green, sold at £940.
