Mrs Foster would seem the ideal choice. Apart from anything else, she organised six January LAPADA fairs at the NEC – her last just a year ago – and they were among the best out-of-London fixtures. Following the demise of the Birmingham LAPADA event, Mrs Foster had no difficulty signing up many of the better dealers from that fair for her new one and we can expect about 90 exhibitors at the show.

Among them will be Wakelin & Linfield from West Sussex, who will take to the inaugural fair this c.1690 walnut, cushion-frame mirror, right, with its original cresting rail. Measuring 2ft (61cm) tall, it will cost around £16,500.
