The 4ft 4in (1.22m) high Sheraton Revival inlaid mahogany display cabinet on squared slender tapered legs was decorated with mythical beasts, swags and ribbon scrolls. It sold at £2800.

Another Edwardian Sheraton Revival piece – a cross-banded satinwood serpentine Pembroke table – took £1200 and a decorative mid-Victorian walnut cupboard with pink Sèvres-style flower panels fetched £1000.

Outside the furniture, an Austrian Art Deco bronze of two dancing nude ladies in the manner of Lorenzl, 12in (30cm) tall on an onyx base, made £1250.
