In this new venture, which they call Brocante, Peter and Sonia have been joined by two like-minded Sheffield firms, Antics and Sarah Copley.

The idea is very simple. The three concerns take over a venue for a few days, hold an evening preview party with drinks and live string music for existing local clients, and then invite the public to come in and examine their varied stock of antiques complemented by good reproductions, fabrics, plants and an interior design service stretching to fitted handmade kitchens.

The package is designed to let the public see how traditional and decorative antiques can stand well with the contemporary in most interiors.

The first event takes place on the weekend of September 25 and 26, with the preview on September 24, at Ashford-in-the-Water Memorial Hall, near Bakewell, followed by a one-day tenancy of Baslow Village Hall on Sunday, November 28 with the preview on November 27.

More venues are being lined up for next year.

A voluntary admission fee of £3 will operate with at least £1 going to charity.
