The exhibition mainly comprises recent acquisitions of 18th, 19th and early 20th century English furniture, augmented by a selection of Victorian and Edwardian oil paintings, a collection of Imari-pattern Royal Crown Derby porcelain and collectable small silver.
But furniture is the core, and the highlight is a large marquetry walnut display cabinet probably made by Morris & Co., c.1885.
This will be priced at £12,000 but definitely will not be for sale until the exhibition opens on September 28.
Also on offer among the furniture are a good Edwardian satinwood corner cupboard, a Regency mahogany secretaire chest and an early Victorian rosewood davenport with carved petal feet.
There will be late opening until 8pm on Friday October 1.
Dealers mean business with their shows of confidence
WITH the autumn season well underway, it’s good to see a number of dealers promoting business with selling exhibitions which, apart from anything else, present a confident looking trade to the world. Second generation West Sussex furniture dealer Frank Wilson, owner of Wilsons Antiques, has held such an exhibition in Worthing every year since the early 1990s and this autumn’s event will run from September 28 to October 2 at his showrooms at 45-47 New Broadway, Tarring Road.
