And one exception is the North London business Kaleidoscope, which have been operational for 32 years. Over the last ten, they have hosted what they term their Summer Madness Sale and the current one, which opened last Sunday, will continue until August 30 at 64-66 Willesden Lane, NW6.
Known mainly as a picture gallery, for the sale there is plenty else to choose from, including African masks, glass and silver.
Owner Karl Barrie insists this is a genuine sale with bargains available with up to 50 per cent slashed off the retail price.
And, of course, it is the best possible way of clearing out items before post-summer re-stocking.
