The next one will be on Sunday October 3 in the Byron Hall of Harrow Leisure Centre in North-West London.
Put together each year by the Bead Society of Great Britain (which was founded in 1989 and now numbers some 750 members), the show features exhibitions, demonstrations and, centrally, some 100 stalls with all manner of beads on sale.
New this year is Abdul Touray from New York with his stock of African trade beads, which generally were Venetian or Bohemian.
Confidently billed as Europe’s number one bead event, entry is free to Bead Society members and £1.50 for others.
Beady-eyed collectors
I HAVE been asked to alert readers to the annual Beadwork and Bead Fair – and why not? There are many more arcane items which have societies devoted to them and beads obviously have staying power for the fair has been going for 15 years.
