But he is determined to tell the world about the 25th anniversary of the Castle Hall fair, to be celebrated on Saturday, May 22.
Despite Mr Phillips’s bashfulness over the fair, which is datelined to 1930, it has performed consistently well over the years and regularly hosts more than 50 dealers and a good crowd of trade and local private buyers.
The fair opens at 10am but trade can get in free at 9am.

FEW organisers are reluctant to blow their own trumpet, but Barry Phillips, who as Camfair puts together the monthly antiques fair at The Castle Hall, Hertford, admits he has been a bit too quiet about what he calls “Hertfordshire’s best-kept secret”.
