Exhibitors never shout about their sales at this fair, but by the end of the party at 10pm some sales had been achieved and some major pieces were on reserve. There was early interest in antiquities, tribal items and 19th century pictures. One leading international dealer said there was evidence that people are looking to fine objects rather than the stock market.
Upbeat mood at Maastricht
CONSIDERING the pervading gloom and doom, exhibitors at the private view of TEFAF Maastricht last Thursday night were surprisingly optimistic and the overall mood at the packed party was distinctly upbeat.
