Well over 300 examples will be on offer next month at Christie’s South Kensington when the auctioneers stage a 283-lot sale of vintage film posters on March 4.

There are several hundred examples, priced from £10,000-15,000 for a rare poster featuring that memorable image of Jane Russell reclining on a bed of hay revealing an ample cleavage in The Outlaw, down to a job lot of around 270, mainly British, posters from the 1960s-90s, guided at £800-1200.

In between you can choose from a whole selection of striking and memorable images from film noir, James Bond, Clint Eastwood’s spaghetti westerns, Alfred Hitchcock’s psychologically charged thrillers to more than 30 lots of Science Fiction and horror ranging from The Creature of the Black Lagoon to Star Wars.

This stylish 1968 purple and yellow 22in x 2ft 4in (56 x 71cm) US half sheet for Bullitt, right, starring king of cool Steve McQueen, would add a touch of cult class to any 1960s interior and is expected to make in the region of £300-500.
