Last year, by then bankrupt, he teamed up with Greg Ward to hold another TAG sale at the Royal Horticultural Halls, London SW1 from August 16 to 18.
Creditors are still waiting to be paid after that attempt, among them AXA, the art world underwriters who have not been paid any premiums, and Heathrow-based Connaught Air Services, who are holding the stock of dealers who entered goods into the sale.
At present those goods will not be released. Peter Hodges, director of Connaught, told the Antiques Trade Gazette: “Our bill has not been paid, not a penny. Our solicitors have advised us to hold material pending payment and put as much pressure as possible on Trading Art Group. We have never had this situation before. The material is all safe.”
Creditors raise doubts over future of TAG sale company
THE future of the Trading Art Group Ltd, a company set up to hold sales of remaindered art, is in the balance after creditors complained about unpaid bills. The principals of the TAG venture, Michael Roosen and Greg Ward, were unavailable for comment last week. Mr Roosen held a TAG sale in 2000, a venture which failed and had angry dealers attempting in vain to get recompense for damaged stock.
