Consigned from a duplex on the Upper East Side, the set forms part of a small group of exquisite English furniture purchased in London in the 1950s.

There are also three George III painted and parcel-gilt shield-back armchairs purchased from Mallett & Son, Ltd., London in 1958 and a beautiful pair of Chippendale carved giltwood mirrors.

In addition, Stair are selling a small group of property from the estate of John V. Rowan, an internationally renowned collector of Irish silver, that he bequeathed to the San Antonio Museum of Art. This includes two interesting silver-mounted document boxes, one with marks for The Goldsmiths and Silversmiths Co. Ltd., London, 1928; the other with marks for Omar Ramsden, London, 1937. Each contains a parchment scroll.

From a home in Millbrook there is a magnificent Garrard & Co. Ltd. 350-piece canteen of sterling flatware in the fiddle pattern, each piece engraved with a lion’s head crest, with marks for S.G., London, 1937.
