While the freehold of the building belongs to Crown Estates the auctioneers are expected to sub-let to a third party. Christie’s Education will relocate to 153 Great Titchfield Street, W1 in time for the new academic year starting on September 1.
The refurbished 1970s building – close to Regent’s Park and within walking distance of the British Museum and the British Library – will become the main centre of all master’s, diploma and certificate progammes as well as the other short courses and the wine course offered by the auction house.
Christie’s Education to leave King Street
Christie’s are to relocate their education arm from King Street to new premises in the Fitzrovia area of London. The current building, number 5 King Street that was the former Spink premises, will undergo refurbishment in the summer. While the upper floors are expected to remain Christie’s offices, a decision will be made in the near future as to the use of the prime retail space below.
