Just over half the content changed hands but the casualties included the potential stars of the sale, a group of 18 psychedelic drawings and designs by Hendrix in multi-coloured felt-tip that he gave to Kathy Levine, his personal assistant, before leaving to go to the Isle of Wight festival in 1970, none of which found a buyer.

This left the red, white and blue bandana pictured right as the sale’s highest priced entry when it sold to a private collector for £3200. The bandana, which is possibly the one worn by Hendrix at the Forum LA, the first venue on the Cry of Love US tour, was offered together with a copy of Univibes fanzine, which features a colour illustration of Jimi backstage before the gig.
