Traditionally, deterioration of valuable artworks has been the specialist concern of conservators and restorers, but new techniques have brought new implications for the trade among others.

“More and more examples are emerging of art that contains the causes of its own decay; where both artistic integrity and market value are threatened,” AXA explain. “The question is, how can the art world best work together to care for and protect such inherently vulnerable pieces?”

AXA Art will explore the issue with a variety of guest speakers from across the art world including Angela Neville, chairman of the Society of London Art Dealers.

Tickets cost £100 (£75 for museum staff) and include a full set of papers and refreshments throughout the day. Contact Helen George on 020 7265 4624 to secure your place.
