The official exhibition dates of the Autumn Watercolour Exhibition are September 20 to 27 but those who know the business or are on the firm’s mailing list will have the opportunity to buy from September 17 when the 90 paintings go on sale.
They can be bought from 9.30am sharp that morning by fax or any other method.
Nevertheless a good few people still like to be there in person for the opening and John tells me that in the past they have started queuing from 5am.
Prices range from £385 to £7500 with a large selection between £800 and £1500.
Art buyers in line for the furniture dealer’s show
FAIRS dominate the diary this week as they do the current trade scene generally, but that it not to say dealers have forgotten the arts of self-promotion. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of his business, J. Collins & Sons, Devonshire dealer John Biggs is best known as a period furniture dealer. But he always carries a good stock of paintings and holds his 47th picture show at his showrooms at 28 High Street, Bideford this month.
