Thomas Blackman, who also organises Art Chicago, one of America’s leading contemporary art fixtures, says the postponement is due mainly to a lack of time to mount the kind of show he envisaged, although he admitted some dealers were slow to commit and the state of the economy was also a factor.

The venue of the new show was to be a 125,000 square-foot temporary structure next to the Palms Casino Resort housing some 125 galleries, including some from the UK. The show will now take place on the same site in October 2003 when its scope will be broadened from just contemporary work.
