The LAPADA Approachable Antiques Scheme involves exhibitors selecting a fine example of a type of antique, from whatever category, and clearly identifying it with a green ribbon bearing the association’s familiar chandelier logo.
Any beribboned piece will be priced at less than £2000 and will be money-back guarantee.
Explaining the move, John Newgas, chief executive of LAPADA, told the Antiques Trade Gazette: “The LAPADA Approachable Antiques Scheme is intended to instil confidence in novice collectors.”
Right: how the ribbons denoting items covered by the scheme will appear at the fair, in this case on a late 18th century Derby group of The Tythe Pig from David and Sally March.
