Brighton auctioneers Southern Independent Auctions are to sell furniture from Channel Four’s Big Brother house which was seized recently after the company that supplied it went into liquidation.

Receivers were called in after the company shut its doors and they instructed Southern Insolvency, part of the auction group, to seize the furniture and other items as soon as possible.

“It all started to happen a few weeks ago,” said Daryl Taylor, chairman of Southern Independent Auctions. “We could have gone in straight away but had no desire to disrupt a programme which was watched by millions.”

Some of the items will be returned to organisations that owned them, others will be sold at auction and it is hoped that at least one item will be auctioned to raise money for charity.
