From the 49 participants, Simon Ray Indian and Islamic Works of Art of St James’s won the two-dimensional category with a c.1775 Red Peacock banner by an unknown master dyer, originated on the Coromandel Coast for the Sri Lankan market.
Unanimous choice of the judges for the three-dimensional work was a late ninth century sandstone sculpture of Vishnu from Uttar Pradesh, Northern India, belonging to fellow St James’s dealer Theresa McCullough.
