So it is no surprise that among the 40 standing at this event from October 4 to 6 at Arley Hall, near Knutsford, just one is appearing for the first time. The fair will occupy the ground floor of the house and the nearby 16th century barn.

Making their debut are local firm Reedgate Antiques with a general mix.

Ceramics are a strong feature of this fair and one of the veterans on parade is The Blue Lady from the West Midlands with her trademark Ruskin Ware, while country furniture is another favourite with another stalwart Bryan Chew from Dorset bringing a good selection of oak.

The fair, which is now owned and organised by Sue Ede, carries a general dateline of 1920 although jewellery is allowed to 1930 and textiles to 1950. Admission is £4.
