Top right: in a rare example of the dust jacket, which repeats the pictorial design of the front cover (in which the lettering and the roofs of the houses are blocked in red), this 1901 first edition of The Inheritors by Joseph Conrad and Ford M. Hueffer [aka Ford Madox Ford] brought a trade bid of £11,000.

Bottom right: a complete, first edition set of Anthony Powell’s A Dance to the Music of Time sequence of novels, 1951-75, which sold for £3200 to a collector. All are in dust jackets; the second and last volumes in the sequence bear presentation inscriptions, and one other is signed.
