The contemporary sale, scheduled for June 24 – exactly 52 years on – will auction works commissioned especially for the event that represent those items sold at the original sale. The sale itself, entitled A Public Auction of Private Art Works, is being billed as an art project in itself by Nina Pope, a well-known artist working in new media and live art, who with public art organisation Commissions East, has commissioned more than 30 artists to contribute to the event. The contemporary collection of 40 or so lots will be exhibited at the castle from June 19-24.

LEADING provincial auctioneers Dreweatt Neate are to host an unusual tribute next month – an auction that recreates a sale held at Kimbolton Castle on June 24, 1949.
