Sotheby’s Olympia comprises some 54,000 square feet on one level and has been skilfully and sympathetically designed to provide the whole auction experience, complete with cafe and bookshop. With state-of-the-art facilities, the basically open-plan layout has a modern, streamlined feel but with a retro touch to the decor reflecting the mood of Olympia, itself a retro classic.
Very much its own entity with its own entrance Sotheby’s Olympia could not be more different from Bond Street.

UK: THE Antiques Trade Gazette has been given an exclusive preview of Sotheby’s new saleroom at Olympia. With 120 men a day working onsite to meet the September 3 deadline, prior to the first sale on September 18, one can see it is going to be very impressive indeed.
