It brought £340 while several interested parties contested a George III oval nutmeg grater with hinged lid engraved and crested by John Salkeld, London, 1799, 13/4in (4.5cm) to £760.
And a reminder of the proper way to serve grapes was a pair of Victorian grape scissors with Albany pattern handles, by Harrison Brothers, Sheffield, 1896. 33/4oz, that were sold at £145.
But the biggest silver price was reserved for a George Angel 19th century matched table service of King’s pattern cutlery.
It made £2100 while an 18ct white gold ring set with a solitaire diamond, approx 3ct, stole the limelight at £6000.
