Saturday’s 250 Bunnykins figures were led by a rare eggcup by revered Doulton designer Charles Noke. Dating from c.1939 and numbered D6034, it was of Style One design and went at the bottom estimate £1200. Limited edition figures included Milkman, DB125, which brought £290 and John Bull, DB134 which made £200.
PenDelfin figures offered on Sunday were led by this rare Manx Kitten. Imperative to success in the collectables market is condition and rarity and this blue-collared model introduced in 1956 and withdrawn two years later had both attributes, having suffered only very minor wear. Estimated at £700-1000, it went at £1200.
PenDelfin sale proves the cat’s whiskers
Not to all tastes, Bunnykins and PenDelfin figures are strong enough collectors’ items to justify launching a “Bunny Weekend” in Cobridge, Staffordshire by Potteries Specialist Auctions</b. (10% buyer’s premium) on April 28-29.
