Christie’s have rescheduled their Asian art series. Sales at the Rockefeller Center are as follows: Monday, October 15: 10am The Falk Collection II – Chinese and Japanese Works of Art; 2pm Japanese Art; 6pm Korean Art. Tuesday, October 16: 10am The Falk Collection I – Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art; 2pm Fine Chinese Furniture, Ceramics and Works of Art. Wednesday, October 17: 10am and 2pm Indian and Southeast Asian Art. Christie’s East, Thursday, October 18: 10am and 2pm Asian Decorative Arts.

Christie's expect their sales program to continue as scheduled on 25 September with Fine European and Oriental Carpets at 10am and Continental Furniture, Works of Art, Tapestries and Carpets at 2pm in Rockefeller Center. All their other sales worldwide will remain unchanged.

Doyle’s Important Estate Jewellery sale scheduled for September 11 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 25 at 10am with a special viewing on September 24 from 10am to 7pm.

Swann Auction Galleries’ auction of 19th and 20th Century Prints and Drawings originally planned for September 13 has been moved to September 21 at 10.30am and 2.30pm. All absentee bids that have been received will be valid for September 21 and Swann will continue accepting bids by telephone, fax and e-mail until 6pm September 20. Viewing has also been extended to September 20.

The Geneva-based auctioneers Antiquorum say that as an act of mourning and respect for the American people they will postpone their New York watch auction of September 20 until October 3 when it will take place at 10.30am and 2pm at the Grand Havana Room, 666 Fifth Avenue. The watches can be viewed at Tourneau Time Machine, East 57th St at Madison Avenue from 10am to 6pm on September 29 and from 11.30am to 5.30pm on September 30, then at The Grand Havana Room from 3 to 7pm on October 1, from 10am to 7pm on October 2 and from 9am on October 3.

Sotheby’s Decorative Works of Art sale was rescheduled from September 11-13 to September 17, 19 and 21 and the September 14 sale of Fine Oriental and European Carpets has moved to September 20 at 1pm. Both follow the original order and times.

Both of Christie’s New York rooms are running sales as planned. Away from auctions, the downtown 69th Regiment Armory at Gramercy Park, a popular venue for antiques fairs, was being used at the end of last week as a refuge for people displaced by the disaster. However, the major fair planned for this month at the venue, Caskey-Lees’ Arts of Pacific Asia Show, pencilled in for late September, was cancelled last April.

Stella Show Management, who organise many New York events, state all their fairs will go ahead as planned.

New York: Due to immense logistical difficulty, particularly shipping, London-based organisers Brian and Anna Haughton have announced a cancellation of their International Art and Design Fair scheduled for September 29th to October 2nd at New York's 7th Regiment Armory on Park Avenue.
