Les Fleurs, four decorative posters by Mucha – one of 1000 sets printed by Champenois in 1898 – sold well at Fr188,000 (£17,700). Each featured a lissom lovely surrounded by flowers (respectively lilies, irises, carnations and roses).

Steinlen’s well-known Lait Pur Stérilisé de la Vingeanne, a blonde girl in red drinking from a bowl of milk surrounded by a trio of his hallmark cats, fetched Fr115,000 (£10,600), while a rare instance of Rosa Bonheur as poster designer, plugging Buffalo Bill’s Wild West and Congress of Rough Riders of the World, featuring Bill on his grey steed, right, designed in 1889 and printed in 1905 by Weiners & Ch. Wall in Paris, galloped to Fr65,000 (£6020).
