Sanford Smith is producing this event in association with, and at the request of The Art and Antique Dealers League of America and at fairly short notice has confirmed close to 60 exhibitors, mostly members but with some friends of
members whose stock fulfils the association’s strict vetting requirements.

The exhibitors are all American but this fair will attract international attention. Already signed up are some big names well known from top international fixtures, among them Dillingham from San Francisco, Blumka Gallery of New York, and the Spanierman Gallery and Clinton Howell Antiques, both from New York.

Work began on this new fair, for which there will be an evening preview on November 15, in the late spring and it has had a quicker uptake of stands than most observers would have predicted, again emphasising the desire of the upper echelons of the trade for quality fairs in Manhattan.

Connecticut dealer (and exhibitor) George Subkoff, president of the League, says: “This new fair brings together America’s oldest art and antiques association with New York’s most experienced show manager.”

Sanford Smith responded: “We are thrilled to be working with the League and its impeccable roster of members. Fair visitors will have access to the best that America’s dealers have to offer.”

Founded in 1926, The Art and Antique Dealers League of America is the oldest such body in the country, its name being changed from the Antiques and Decorative Arts League in 1942.

This new fair follows the announcement some months ago of Dr Jerome Eisenberg’s The Antiquarian Fine Art Fair, scheduled for Madison Square Garden from November 30 to December 4. Dr Eisenberg is near to reaching his target of 50 international exhibitors, still with plenty of time to go.

Meanwhile, the fair that set the standard in the United States, and the one they are all trying to emulate, the Haughton’s International Fine Art and Antique Dealers Show, will be held for the 13th time at the Seventh Regiment Armory from October 19 to 25.
