But a more decorative note was sounded by the piece pictured here, an 18th century Chinese gilt and lacquer panel measuring roughly 3ft 9in (1.1m) square which had been later mounted on a giltwood base to form a low coffee table and sold for £2800 to a London decorative dealer.
An exotic blend for coffee
