Halls of Welsh Bridge, Shrewsbury, had to postpone their general sale scheduled for Wednesday November 1 when their general saleroom was completely submerged.
But the company are prepared for floods and no consignments were thought to be damaged as all lots were removed from the saleroom prior to the flooding. The sale will be rescheduled for later in the month.
East Sussex, the worst affected area in the floods of October escaped any serious damage this time around. Nick Muston of Gorringes, Lewes, was pleased to report that they had escaped any damage. It is business as usual for Julian Dawson, also of Lewes who emerged with “just a few damp floorboards” despite backing on to the town’s flooded railway station.
Rising water levels have rendered many rooms inaccessible to staff and the public. Wallis & Wallis of Lewes have been operating on the minimum of staff, while congestion on the single open route across the Severn resulted in a quiet week at the Worcester rooms of Andrew Grant. The Billingshurst rooms of John Bellman were inaccessible but had suffered a power cut anyway, with the current only being reconnected late on Tuesday afternoon.

Once again torrential rain and flooding has wreaked havoc across the country causing disruption to the antiques trade.
