L’Entrée du Christ – Jérusalem and Le Christ et la Cananéenne were among six works commissioned in 1628 by Marie de Medici for the (now destroyed) Carmelite Convent in Paris. Two of the series (L’Assomption and La Pentecôte) are now in the Musée du Val de Grace in Paris, another (La Résurrection de Lazare) in the arts museum in Grenoble.
