Measuring 8ft 10in (2.69m) wide and consigned for sale to Dodd and Partner’s of Mold, Flintshire on March 25 by the descendant of the Welsh farmer who had originally commissioned it, the dresser was contested by the trade to around £34,000, and then by two private collectors who bid it to a final price of £46,000 (plus 10 per cent premium).
