The works include: A View of the European Factories at Canton by William Daniell RA, which has been accepted in lieu of £500,500 tax and will go to the National Maritime Museum’s new Trade and Empire Gallery where it will provide a focus for the museum’s collections on the history of the China trade; Prague Nostalgia by Oscar Kokoschaka, accepted in lieu of £175,000 tax – it has yet to be decided where it will be allocated; furniture and archives from Gawthorpe Hall, a 17th century National Trust property in Lancashire, in lieu of £139,945 tax, which will be allocated in part to the National Trust.
