A (sunny!) day at a previous Giant Shepton Flea held at the Royal Bath & West Showground.
Saturated ground has little or no time to recover and this particularly affects showground events such as the Giant Shepton Flea at the Royal Bath & West Showground at Shepton Mallet, most recently on Easter Sunday.
Duncan Phillips, spokesman for organiser Sue Ede, said: “The grass parking at the showground couldn’t be used as it was too waterlogged and it took longer than anticipated to park both incoming stallholders and visitors on the hardstanding areas across the showground. This inevitably led to queues and frustration for some people.”
He added: “Sue has subsequently met with parking officials at the ground and they have provided assurance that new measures will be in place for the next Shepton Flea on May 12. Most likely the ground should have dried out by then.”
May’s event features a fully booked Showering Pavilion (not showers too, hopefully) and the anticipated stallholder number both inside and out at the flea is around 400.
