Milo Dickinson joins family firm
Art gallery Simon C Dickinson has appointed Milo Dickinson as managing director. Echoing the career of his father Simon, who founded the company in 1993, Milo is joining from Christie’s where he worked for more than a decade.
The firm will expand into Old Master sculpture alongside Impressionist, Modern British art and Old Masters.
The announcement of Milo joining Dickinson follows the news that former MD Emma Ward, alongside James Roundell and Max Weaver, left to create Ward Moretti last autumn (as reported in ATG No 2561).
TEFAF supports restoration work
Egon Schiele’s Town among Greenery (The Old City III) and Michaelina Wautier’s Two Girls as Saints Agnes and Dorothea have both benefited from TEFAF funding for restoration.
TEFAF (The European Fine Art Foundation) has revealed the latest recipients of its Museum Restoration Fund.
The fund was established in 2012 and each year a maximum of €50,000 is allocated to projects – usually two a year.
This year Neue Galerie New York and the Royal Museum of Fine Arts Antwerp received the grant.
With TEFAF’s funding Neue Galerie will restore Egon Schiele’s (1890-1918) Town among Greenery (The Old City III) (1917), which it received as a gift in 2006.
This oil on canvas is viewed as one of Schiele’s more significant landscapes and was among his last paintings completed before his death.
In Antwerp, the funding will be used to restore Michaelina Wautier’s (1604- 89) Two Girls as Saints Agnes and Dorothea (c.1650). Although owned by the museum since 1910, the picture was misattributed until 2003.
Hidde van Seggelen, president of TEFAF, said: “To have the work of one of the great Austrian Expressionist painters conserved, alongside an outstanding Baroque artist, speaks to the incredibly important role played by the Museum Restoration Fund in reinforcing TEFAF’s commitment to scholarship and academia across the art historical cannon.”
A previous recipient in 2021, the National Museum Cardiff, unveiled its newly restored portrait by Édouard Manet (1832- 83). Portrait de Monsieur Jules Dejouy (1879) was acquired by Museum Wales in 2019 via the government acceptance in lieu scheme.
Horse sculpture taken from home
The ‘kicking horse’ bronze sculpture by artist Denise Dutton which has been stolen from a Cotswold home.
The owners of a stolen bronze sculpture have asked the art and antiques trade to look out for the missing artwork.

The bottom of the plinth has a DJP monogram and the sculpture measures 2ft x 2ft 2in (61 x 67cm).

Wedlake Bell has taken on the Art & Luxury team from fellow legal practice Charles Russell Speechlys
Partners Tim Maxwell and Rudy Capildeo will lead the new Art & Luxury practice at Wedlake Bell with senior associate Petra Warrington, associate Tamara Bell and solicitor Jil Birnbaum.
The team work with a number of artists, private collectors and galleries and have recently worked on cases relating to artists’ rights and high-value title disputes as well as artworks being saved for the nation.

The number of 17th century Old Masters that Kunsthaus Zürich said were missing last week.
The museum announced that it has asked police to investigate the possible theft of Soldiers at an Encampment by Robert van den Hoecke and Daffodils and Other Flowers in a Glass Vase on a Marble Slab by Dirck de Bray which were among 700 works that had been sent for cleaning and restoration following a fire in August 2022.
