Four Quartets by TS Eliot – £1750 at Canterbury Auction Galleries.
It was not noted at the time whether this copy of that Harcourt Brace & Co edition bore the key identifying line ‘First American Edition’ to verso of the title-page, but it was certainly signed by Eliot and it sold online at £1750.
Other Eliot lots included a signed copy of No 1 of the 600 copies of Ash Wednesday printed by the Kirwan Press in 1930, but it failed to sell.
