Therefore, Catalogue 100 has been split into two parts, the first of which was released earlier this month to celebrate the end of the second lockdown in England and includes portraits, UK views, modern etchings, sports images and ephemera.

One picture on offer is this seasonally appropriate mezzotint of Princess Amalie Auguste of Anhalt-Dessau (1793-1854) putting an ornament on a Christmas tree. Offered for £380, it is catalogued as by Tischbein and engraved by Michelis in 1797. It is in a proof state before letters. Princess Amalie grew up to marry her first cousin Frederick Günther, becoming Princess Consort of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt.

Part two of the catalogue was released last week and includes overseas works, books, satire and fine art items.
