Nemon created the life-size bronze for the village green at Westerham in Kent (near Churchill’s home at Chartwell) following the great war leader’s death in 1965.
Local people provided the money through a series of fund-raising events in a campaign chaired by the late Bob Webster, whom Nemon later presented with the maquette.
The 18½in (47cm) high piece with green patina was consigned to the October 2 sale by Webster’s widow and sold at a mid-estimate £8000.
