As well as organising four-wheel drive transport for employees, auctioneer Richard Edmunds put up the online staff at a local hotel to handle bids from the many people unable to get to the rooms.
“On the day, more than 600 bidders joined the auction online, a record for the firm,” said Edmunds. One of them, a UK collector, won this rare 13 x 10in (33 x 22cm) double-sided enamel sign complete with re-attached hanging flanges (above).
With a die-cut image advertising Cooper’s sheep dip, it sold at £1900.
