This example, pictured above, offered at Bourne End Auctions (15% buyer’s premium) on September 6 was enamelled in red and black and included two attached jade rings.

The silvered dial was signed Cartier and Bte S.G.D.E and the 15-jewel movement was signed European Clock and Watch Company, the firm set up by Edward Jaeger and Cartier in the 1920s.

Estimated at £2000-4000, it sold to the London trade at £6200.
