Obituaries: Nellie Lenson-Smith and Bruce White
Nellie Lenson-Smith (1928-2017) was born in Aix-la-Chappelle. Her mother, a talented musician, was from the Russian aristocracy and escaped during the 1917 Revolution. Nellie spent summers with her maternal grandmother in Austria, learning from her about her Russian ancestry, and during the war Nellie was sent to Switzerland for her schooling.
The latter part of the war brought many trials and much sadness to Nellie’s life.
