Derby clockmakers stock goes under the hammer

Hundreds of pieces of manufacturing equipment which have belonged to clockmakers Smith of Derby over the last 100 years are to be sold to make space at their site in Shropshire.

Among the prize lots is a selection of dials, turret clock movements, accessories and pre-Second World War electric movements, in addition to 19th century music boxes and this vast lantern clock, which is over 8ft (2.44m) high.

The two-day online-only auction held by Whyles Hardywill start on November 28.
