An appeal launched by the Art Fund to save a Poussin painting for the nation has hit its £3.9m target.
The campaign supported the Fitzwilliam
Museum's attempt to acquire Extreme Unction (c.1638-40),
part of a now incomplete series of seven paintings based on the
sacraments.
The painting is at the National Gallery but
will be at the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge from early December.
The appeal included £3m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
