27 June 2012Written by ATG Reporter

This original poster for the 1948 Olympic Games by Walter Herz (b.1909) will be offered at Onslows’ internet auction of vintage posters on June 29.

It has been consigned by the son of Gerry Cranham who rescued the poster from a lamp-post just after completing his run as an Olympic Torchbearer.

A member of Reading and District Athletics Club at the time, Mr Cranham went on to become a well-known horseracing photographer.

The 2ft 6in x 20in (76 x 51cm) poster is estimated at £1000-1500.
